A 'quick' introduction

Hi everybody :)
Since this blog will mainly be about my stay in the US, I'm going to tell you a bit about the whole trip now.
I decided that I wanted to do this already 2 years ago. Last summer I anounced to my parents, that this was what I wanted, and I had made up my mind. They were surprised, since I had never talked about it before, but they thought it was a really good idea, and they were really supportive.
My mum started to look at lots of different agencies. Finally, after we had talked to some of them, we decided that I should travel with the danish agency called Explorius. It was a really good choice, they have been very helpful, and they have taken good care of me. So I'm really glad about that!
So after that, all the paperwork started... It took several months to write down every little detail about me in brackets, make all the doctor appointments, write a letter about who I am, what I do in my free time and what I expect from this, and I could keep going and going and going... So for everyone who cinsiders going abroad like me, I can only recommand to start the planning early!

Well, it's pretty much all done now, so I can look forward to my trip! I don't know exactly when I'll leave, but probably between the end of July and the end of August. I don't know where I'll be living either, because I haven't gotten a family yet. It works this way, that a family chooses you from that folder that you sent to Explorius. Explorius then sends it to one of their partner organisations, which in my case is FORTE.
When a family has chosen me, FORTE starts looking for a high school for me in that area. I'll then go to the US about 7-10 days before the school starts, because I'll visit New York City with other exchange students for a couple of days first. This is something Explorius organizes. From there, I'll fly to wherever my family lives.

Sorry about this long post. I'll try to keep the next ones a little shorter ;)

Until next time, Sara xx
